For my 2025 Spring Capstone, I made an app prototype on Figma called Creep Peep. Creep Peep is dedicated to reptile owners on helping them complete care tasks for their pets and finding others on the app to help care for their pets while they’re away.
This project is focused on UX, and to produce a quality prototype, I followed these phases:
- User Research
- Branding
- Personas
- Implementing Feedback
- Prototyping
User Research
I looked at forums about snake owning, and many concerns people brought up were the same. I tested this with a survey and interviewing 3 people, which not only solidified those prior complaints but also broadened the perspective of why they were an issue.
“No, I don’t really take vacations haha”
“My kids can sit for my reptiles, but besides that I don’t really have anyone.”

The main problems that stood out to me were a lack of resources and the need to do everything yourself, including research for problems no one else seemed to have answers to, not to mentions being fairly unknown compared to other pets like dogs and cats. However, I noticed a beautiful thing as well from my interviewees—they became successful in being exotic pet caretakers when they had external help, and were more than ecstatic to provide that same assistance to newcomers. So I decided to create a pet-sitting app dedicated directly for exotic pets—particularly snakes!
I chose my primary audience:
Exotic pet owners needing help
Volunteers for pet sitting
Competitive Analysis
To figure out what I wanted my app to include and how other reptile enthusiasts tried to solve this issue with apps, I researched competitor apps such as:
- Wag! — A pet sitting app, directed to dogs and cats
- Husbandry Pro — An application for desktop and mobile to track your husbandry (AKA collection of reptiles)
- Reptile Rocket — An application to tracking your reptile needs, such as feedings, health, etc.

Wag!

Husbandry Pro

Reptile Rocket
There were key strengths of each app that I wanted to implement:
- Considerate of pet’s needs and socialization abilities (Wag!)
- Accessible system of seeing pet sitter’s qualifications (Wag!)
- Onboarding process and quick setup (Husbandry Pro)
- Can switch between individual animals versus groups (Reptile Rocket)
- Calendar and notification system to remind you about tasks (Husbandry Pro & Reptile Rocket)
Combining these strengths informed what I wanted in the app and helped me create two user personas.
User Personas
I made two distinct users to target the audience. Ashley who is new to exotic animal care and Cindy who is more experienced:

After careful consideration of each of their needs, I wanted to be sure the app included:
- Being able to browse for caregivers beforehand
- Clarity about the responsibilities of the job for caregiver beforehand
- Messaging system for caregiver and pet owner
